Apply to hire an artist

The AIR program provides professional teaching artists who specialize in visual art, theater, music and dance and can offer a five visit free‐form art or curriculum based art project.

If you are ready to bring the AIR program to your school, please fill out the application form below.
Or, if you would like to bring the AIR program to multiple schools in your district, please fill out our district application.

School Profile

Please note that a typical 5-day residency "package" serves a minimum of 3 classes and maximum of 4 classes by the same artist. You may mix and match grades to come up with 3 or 4 classes. For example: 1-4 classes = 1 residency; 5-8 classes = 2 residencies; 9-12 classes = 3 residencies. Custom planning may be available.

* Due to grant funding and school contributions, a limited number of no-cost residencies are available for Lansing School District Elementary Schools on a first come, first served basis. You must still fill out the form.

Residency Details

Please select your preferred art genre or your preferred artists for this residency. Visit the Artist Roster first for bios and lesson plans. Pick 3 in order of preference.

Student Profile

Please identify the grades, teachers, and quantity of students for this residency. Please note that a typical single residency serves a minimum of 3 classes and maximum of 4 classes by the same artist. You may mix and match grades to come up with 3 or 4 classes. Custom planning may be available. If there are no students to receive programming for a listed grade, please select "0" for number of classrooms and enter "0" for number of students.

Scheduling

Please select your school’s request for AIR Program dates.  Please keep in mind up to 30 days is needed for Program Coordinator to communicate with each principal/teacher/artists, to schedule a lesson planning meeting, to order supplies, to confirm 6 residency dates and to schedule a wrap up meeting. You may want to refer to the artist calendar to view when preferred artists are available before entering in dates. In the instance that the artist and  school availability does not match up, you may provide a suggested workshop  schedule that includes daily routines such as start, end and lunch times.
Would you like to add a wrap-up performance or art show ($300)? Please select a presentation / performance date if you would like.
